    Rosso di Montalcino 2017

    VINOUS – IAN D’AGATA 92 POINT

Good Pale red color. Fresh and medium-bodied, this boasts noteworthy precision to its strawberry, blood orange and floral aromas and flavours. Harmonious acidity provides remarkable clarity and cut. Finishes qith an impressive mineral edge and outstanding length. An excellent Rosso di Montalcino that was released late and that manages to stay light and lively despite the very hot vintage. Well done

    Rosso di Montalcino 2016

    JANCIS ROBINSON – 16.5

Lustrous mid ruby. Numb nose. Ripe, rich fruit on the palate but slow to come out. Tangy finish with bags of grainy tannins. Might need a little more time to shine, even if the fruit already seems a little opulent. (WS) 14% Drink 2020-2024

THE WINE ADVOCATE REVIEWED BY: MONICA LARNER Rating: 88

    Date: 2019 – 2024
    Issue Date: 28th Feb 2019
Source: Issue 241 End of February 2019
The 2016 Rosso di Montalcino (with 8,500 bottles produced) is a very likable and informal wine that jumps over any obvious fruit aromas you might expect and instead starts up immediately with light spice, licorice and grilled herb. The fruit you do get is dark and plummy. You don’t get any bitterness in the mouth, but the wine could do with a bit more fruit freshness.

KERIN O’KEEFE FOR WINE ENTHUSIAST – 90 POINTS

Aromas of red berry, tobacco and Mediterranean scrub lead the nose. It’s juicy and balanced, offering fleshy red cherry, licorice and black pepper alongside fine-grained tannins. It’s fresh, with bright acidity. Drink through 2025.

VINOUS — Antonio Galloni 90 POINT

The 2016 Rosso di Montalcino is very pretty, understated and very delicious. Readers will find an soft-spoken Rosso that is all about persistence, delicacy and class. The 2016 is not an obvious wine, but it is compelling. Sweet floral and red cherry notes perk up the brilliant finish in this light to medium-bodied Rosso from Scopetone. 2019-2026

    Rosso di Montalcino 2013

    JANCIS ROBINSON – 16

Mid ruby with orange tinges. Impressive ripe fruit nose and lifted fresh palate. Almost a little tart on the finish, but certainly refreshing. (WS)Drink 2016-2020

    Rosso di Montalcino 2009

    WINE SPECTATOR – 84 POINTS

Podere Scopetone Rosso di Montalcino Spice, pepper and tobacco notes vie with cherry and herbal flavors. Just lacks a little purity and density. Drink now. 150 cases imported. –BS
